REWARD, AWARD AND GIFT

salvation-gift,reward,award

Reward is something of value which is given on return of an act that was done. Reward comes after something has been done. No reward comes without work or action. Reward is a result of an action which is, most time, a result of good work.

Award is something that denotes an accomplishment.
You must have done something deserving before an award is given to you. Without you doing something deserving, there is definitely no award.

Gift is something given to someone voluntarily without charge.

Romans 5:5-18.

5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

5:16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

5:17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

We see gift of grace, gift of righteousness, gift of justification here. These gifts are given to believers freely without any charge on us. It was given to believers voluntarily by God through Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:23

6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

These verse shows us that ETERNAL LIFE is a gift. When you believe in your heart that Jesus died and rose on the third day according to Rom 10:9, you have ETERNAL LIFE and this life is a voluntary gift from God to only those who believes.

Ephesians 2:8

2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God

Salvation is a gift and not something that you work for. It’s not a function of what you’ve done but the nature of God.

Acts 2:38

2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Holy spirit is a gift and not a reward of your clapping and shouting. Holy spirit resides in the people who has accepted the lordship of Christ. Jesus died and sent another of his kind to us; Holy spirit. He resides in us for ever.

Romans 11:29

KJV: For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

AMP: For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.]

From the scriptures, we can see how salvation, ETERNAL life, holy spirit, righteousness, grace and justification are gifts. They are all gifts to us. We do not work to get them.

Romans 11:29

AMP: For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.]

This verse simply means that salvation as a gift to us can never be taken away from us; God cannot change his mind about those who are saved because He gave salvation to us himself. God’s gifts to us are without repentance, they are irrevocable, they cannot be taken away from us, God cannot collect it back from us. God is not expecting anything as a result of what he has given us. It is a gift.
A gift is nothing but a gift.

Our God is a giver. He gives freely.
Freely he gave himself for mankind.
Freely he gave his spirit to us.
Freely he ransomed us from darkness.
Freely he gave us salvation.
Freely he gave us forgiveness of sins.

God promised us and he committed himself to fulfilling it.

These gifts are yours, walk consciously and intentionally in them.
You are forgiven!
