No Condemnation for Believers

Growing into Our Full Potential

Text: Romans 5-8

Memory Verse: Romans 8 vs 1

Introduction

Last month, we discussed a very vital topic, Personal Devotion, how that it is essential that a believer studies the word of God and prays in his closet apart from the one he does publicly for the building up of his walk with God. Today we would be looking at the topic, No Condemnation for Believers.

Outline

This lesson is for us to see and also know and acknowledge the good things in us in Christ Jesus- Philemon vs 6.

Reading through Romans 4, we can see how righteousness was imputed on Abraham, vs 3. Also it is written in vs 24-25, if we believe in God that raised Christ up from the dead, righteousness would be imputed on us.

Romans 5 helps us to see that it was by the faith we have that we’re saved in vs 1-2, we see also in vs 5 that it is by the love God has for us that we have the holy spirit. In vs 8-10, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us and was raised up so that we can live. In vs 12 -21, we also see that if by one man’s (Adam) disobedience,  death, unrighteousness, sin and offence was passed upon all men, therefore by one man’s (Jesus) obedience, eternal life, righteousness and grace is also passed unto all men through faith.

Romans 6; We cannot continue to sin because grace abounds, never. Since we are dead to sin and alive in Christ, sin should therefore not reign in our mortal bodies, we should yield ourselves to God as righteous men who have been raised from death to  life. Since we’re under grace and not under the law, let’s yield ourselves to righteousness, to whom we yield ourselves, we are servants to- vs 16.

Romans 7 also made us to see that sin came by the law, which doesn’t mean the law is sin in itself but it is by law that sin revived and we know sin; vs 9. But now we are dead to the law.

Romans 8; Condemnation means a state of being guilty, the devil, described as an accuser of the brethren, it was through the law that the devil made us guilty of our sins, so then Christ died for us and rose again the third day, to break the bondage of sin and death. The law couldn’t make us perfect, therefore God sent his son so that we might be righteous and stand in the perfect will of God. Because of this, we’re not in the flesh but in the spirit, we have the spirit of Christ. For those who are in Christ Jesus, who have believed in him, are not in condemnation because the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus as set us free from the law of sin and death. Vs 9-27 made us to see that it is the Spirit of God that raised Jesus from the dead that now works in us. We are therefore led by the spirit of God.

Conclusion

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord- Romans 8:38-39.
